Welcome

Hey there! Thank you for your interest in my newest project. Unfortunately, Scribe is still in its early stages, and nothing is publicly available yet.

Goals

Scribe has a single, specific objective. To launch with the push of a button, transcribe your voice into text, and then export that text to your ReadWise account in a configurable way.

Components

I am planning on having 2 main components to this application:

  1. A lightweight, native app available on Android and WearOS devices for transcribing your voice to text and uploading it to Scribe's web application.
  2. A web application consisting of

Inspiration

The inspiration for Scribe came from one of my favorite YouTubers, the productivity guru himself, Ali Abdaal. In his videos "All the Apps I Use in a Day" and "The 5 Magical Apps That Changed My Life", he describes using the app Drafts to take voice-to-text notes when enjoying audiobooks/podcasts and driving at the same time. The app is even available on Ali's watch, which provides him an omnipresent means of taking efficient notes. What's even better is that Drafts allows you to upload your notes into ReadWise automatically. Readwise can then sync these notes to popular software like Notion, Roam, or Evernote.

This workflow provides a "hands-off" pipeline for getting ideas and thoughts out of your head and into your software of choice while performing an activity that makes standard, manual entry impossible.

As a productivity nerd myself, I had been looking for a solution to this exact problem. Drafts appeared to be precisely the tool I needed! Tragically though, it is only available on iOS... and I own a Google Pixel and Ticwatch. I scoured the Google Play store, but no suitable alternative currently exists.

Rather than give up, I decided to boot up the old dev machine and build such an application myself. Thus Scribe was born!
